Pakistan cricket team’s star player Babar Azam congratulated Sarfaraz Ahmed, the winner of Champions Trophy 2017.
“It was truly an honor to play under you Saifi Bhai,” said Babar Azam in a message on social networking site X after announcing Sarfraz Ahmed’s retirement.
Babar Azam then added: “Thank you for your guidance and faith and also for the memorable moments you have given to Pakistan cricket.” I wish you success and peace in this new phase of your life.
It is worth mentioning that former Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has announced his retirement from International Cricket.
Sarfaraz Ahmed played 54 Tests, 117 One Day Internationals and 61 T20 Internationals for Pakistan. He scored a total of 6164 runs in his career and took 315 catches and 56 wickets behind the wickets of Sarfaraz Ahmed.
He led Pakistan to 100 international matches. Under his leadership, the Pakistan team won the ICC champions trophy 2017, under the leadership of Sarfraz Ahmed, the Pakistan team reached the world number one ranking in T20 international cricket.
Sarfaraz Ahmed is the only Pakistan captain to have won ICC titles at both junior and senior levels. The Government of Pakistan awarded Pride of Performance in 2018.
