Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has advised national team mate Shadab Khan to respond to criticism with his performance instead of making statements about former cricketers.

The advice came after Shadab Khan lashed out at the former players for their criticism after the defeat against India saying that they didn’t do what we did, we beat India in the World Cup.

Shahid Afridi said in a local news channel program that Shadab was right to defend the achievements of his teammates, but the team could not handle the honor and pressure after the historic win against India in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Afridi said that Shadab is really right that we couldn’t beat India in the World Cup, they beat them, they got respect but they couldn’t get this respect.

The former captain said the lack of respect means the team will not be able to deal with internal problems, personal and collective pressures after 2021.

Martyr Afrini also recalled that when Shadab was out of the team due to ill health, many former cricketers openly supported him and expressed his full capabilities.

Afridi said that when Shadab was not performing and was kicked out of the team, we were sitting on TV and saying that Shadab is the backbone of the team, his extras are very important and he can bat, we were talking about Shadab.

Although Afridi praised Shadab’s behaviour, he suggested that the best response to criticism is performance on the field.

On his career, he said that even in his professional life he was heavily criticized and even abused, but he stood up and came out against the big teams.

Afridi said Shadab made it to the national team without playing domestic cricket, but former players continue to support him.

In the end, Efrini said: “If you need it, then with the permission of God, answer that we will be quiet and when the World Cup is over, we will be really quiet.”

It is worth mentioning that after the 102-run win against Namibia in Colombo, Shadab Khan said in a press conference that former cricketers have their own opinion, they have become legends, they could not do what we did in the World Cup, we beat India in the World Cup.
