The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the issue of Bangladesh not traveling to India.
According to the cricket website, the PCB sent a letter on Tuesday, copies of which have been sent to all ICC board members, in which the PCB approved Bangladesh’s position to play the World Cup match in India.
The cricket website said the letter comes at a time when the ICC will take a final decision on Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2026 at an important board meeting today.
According to the cricket website, despite the PCB’s letter to the ICC, it will have no significant impact on the ICC’s decision.
The ICC has been requested by the BCB to shift Bangladesh’s group matches to Sri Lanka, the tournament’s co-host, instead of India due to security concerns. However, the ICC still stands by its stand that the World Cup schedule will not be changed and Bangladesh will have to play in India. The same position was communicated to the BCB by the ICC last week.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board has also proposed to host Bangladesh T20 World Cup matches in Pakistan.
The BCB has refused to travel to India with the full support of the Bangladeshi government, while there have been several meetings between the ICC and the BCB on the issue, including a meeting in Dhaka last week, but both sides are unwilling to budge from their stance.
It should be noted that this controversy arose when the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) ordered Kolkata Knight Riders to drop Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman from the squad for IPL 2026. Although the reasons for this decision have not been disclosed, the deterioration of political relations between Bangladesh and India is the reason.
