Australia’s Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins has revealed that the desire to play as many Tests in a busy 18-month schedule was the main reason he pulled out of the T20 World Cup.
According to Cricket Australia, Pete Cummins says it’s a real shame not to go to the World Cup because I feel good.
Pat Cummins, who is nursing a back injury, said Australia’s schedule starting in August was unusually tight, with a home Test against Bangladesh, a tour of South Africa, a series against New Zealand and then a five-Test tour of India in 2027, the Ashes, the ODI World Cup and a possible World Test Championship final.
“I didn’t want to be stuck with an injury for the next 18 months and if I didn’t take care now it could cause problems later,” he said.
Australia lost 3-0 in the recent T20 series against Pakistan without Pat Cummins and are out of the T20 World Cup, but despite this Pat Cummins says the morale of the team is high and the players are excited to start the World Cup.
Pat Cummins has been left out of Australia’s squad for the upcoming ICCT Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka and India and has been replaced by fast bowler Ben Duvarshos.
