National Snooker: World Cup Team Champion Asjad Iqbal upset, Rana Irfan in final

Rana Irfan defeated Team World Cup champion Esjad Iqbal by a landslide in the final of the National Bank Gold Jubilee National Snooker Championship, the biggest upset of the championship.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s greatest world champion Muhammad Asif easily won and reached the final. The final will be played on Wednesday at 10:00. President of the National Bank, Rehmet Ali Husni, will be the main guest of the award ceremony.

In the semifinals of the 50th National Snooker Championship organized by the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association at NBP Clifton Sports Complex Karachi, Rana Irfan of Punjab beat the current World Cup Team Champion Asjad Iqbal 4-5 to enter the final.

The frame scores for Rana Irfan’s victory were 45-77, (84) 84-14, 71-10, 52-67, 1-69 (57), 0-95 (95), 72 (64)-01, 37-64 and 18-74 (53).

In the second semi-final, three-time world champion Muhammad Asif (National Bank) easily defeated Punjab’s Mubasher Raza in 3-5 frames to reach the final.

Muhammad Asif’s winning frame scores were 17-105 (105), 17-76, (71) 71-20, 37-66, 50-44, 5-66 and 42-76.
