3 members from the same house from different divisions participated in the National Games melting contests.
Among them is 15-year-old weightlifter Madiha Zubair, an athlete from Lahore who is also in the ninth grade.
Madeeha represented Pakistan Railways in the Women’s National Games in the 86 kg category and won the silver medal with a total lift of 129 kg.
In this category, Mediha competed with her mother, Zehra Zubêr, who represented the army.
Zahra lifted a total of 108 kg and did not get a medal.
Despite not winning a medal, Zahira is happy that her daughter Madeeha won a medal in the competition, saying it was a different experience to keep Mamta’s spirit alive with the competition.
Madeeha says she has been given a lifting environment since the beginning, my grandfather, father, mother are all lifters, I am happy to have won a medal in the National Games, but I want to represent Pakistan in the Olympics like my grandfather Olympian Muhammad Manzoor.
Madeeha’s father Zubair Manzoor is also an international weightlifter for Pakistan, Zubair is representing Pakistan Police in the National Games and will be in action for his competition on Tuesday.
Zubair is happy with the success of his wife and daughter and says, “May everyone in the family be the color of Pakistan.”
Not only the wife and daughter of Zubair Manzoor, other family members also deal with weight, his father Muhammad Manzoor represented Pakistan in the 1976 Olympics.
His brother Zohaib and sister Saima are also weightlifters and compete in various weight categories at the National Games.
