Pakistani fast bowler Muhammad Abbas has signed a 2-year contract with new county Derbyshire in the County Championship.

Derbyshire’s head coach is Mickey Arthur while Mohammad Abbas has represented Leicestershire, Hampshire and Nottinghamshire.

Mickey Arthur says Abbas is one of the Reds’ best fast bowlers and is delighted to have Abbas join Derbyshire for 2026 and 2027.

He said that Muhammad Abbas is an exceptional player, taking shots by putting opposition lines under pressure.

The Derbyshire Head Coach said that taking wickets in the maiden overs and a good average is a sign of Muhammad Abbas, his experience is important for Derbyshire, the young players will benefit from the experience.

In this regard, the athlete Muhammad Abbas said that it is a great pleasure for me to join Derbyshire and get the opportunity to work with Mickey Arthur again, he is a great coach.

He added that the team missed out on promotion in 2025 by a small margin, so I will try to do well and win the team trophy.
