The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has once again appointed former paceman Lasith Malinga as the consultant bowling coach of the men’s team.
It is worth mentioning that the appointment of Lasith Malinga has been made in the context of preparations for the T20 World Cup, which Sri Lanka will co-host with India from February.
This appointment of Malinga has been made for 40 days which will continue from December 15 to January 25.
According to a statement by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, Sri Lanka Cricket wants to take advantage of Malinga’s extensive international experience and expertise in the shortest format, especially in death bowling, to strengthen the team’s preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
Lasith Malinga has officially served as the fast bowling mentor at least twice in the past while Malinga has also been mentoring the coaching staff led by Santh Jayasuriya for the last two years.
The ICCT Twenty20 World Cup will run from February 7 to March 8, with Sri Lanka in Group B alongside Australia, Ireland, Oman and Zimbabwe.
