The four-time world champion Italy failed to participate in the FIFA World Cup again.

According to reports, in the playoff final played in Zenica, Italy, he lost on penalties against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With this defeat, Italy became the first former champion team in history not to participate in three consecutive World Cup tournaments.

Both teams failed to score in extra time, after which the decision went to penalties where two Italian players missed the target and Bosnia scored the decisive penalty to win.

The defeat added to Italy’s recent string of defeats, as they have previously failed to qualify for two World Cups.
