India’s eighth consecutive win against Pakistan in T20, after the final of the Champions Trophy, the national team won the last match against the traditional rival on September 4, 2022 in Dubai, the captains again could not shake their hand.
The interesting aspect of the India-Pakistan match in Colombo on Sunday was that four Pakistani bowlers Salman Agha, Usman Tariq, Muhammad Nawaz and Sayem Ayub scored a total of 87 runs in 14 overs, and three bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan defeated Pakistan for 6 and 86.
Fahim Ashraf was not shot by the captain in the third match in a row. The Pakistani cricket team has been suffering constant defeats against India in the white-ball format in recent years, which has raised questions about Pakistan’s cricketing system.
After defeating India in the ICC Champions Trophy final at the Oval in 2017, there have been 16 matches between Pakistan and India in the white-ball format (One Day and T20 International), of which India have won 13, while one match has been a draw for Pakistan.
In the T20 international between Pakistan and India, India has the upper hand. In the T20 World Cup, there have been a total of 9 matches between the traditional rivals, out of which India won 8, while Pakistan managed the only win in 2021 in Dubai.
On 4 September 2022, Pakistan won their last Asia Cup match against India by five wickets in the T20 International in Dubai. After this, the two teams faced each other six times and India won all the matches.
Pakistan faced constant setbacks, losing the T20 World Cup match in Melbourne in 2022 while India won the T20 World Cup match against Pakistan in New York in June 2024 by 6 runs. In the match in America, Pakistan team could not pass the target of 120 runs.
