ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Hockey Federation has announced important appointments for the men’s national team and former legendary player Samiullah has been appointed as the chief selector.

According to the Pakistan Hockey Federation, the appointments were made on the recommendation of the Federation’s Professional Development Committee, which includes former Olympians Hasan Sardar and Islahuddin Siddiqui.

The federation says the decision is aimed at reviving the sport of hockey in Pakistan and improving the performance of the national team.

In this regard, a comprehensive plan has been prepared, including the creation of a new team structure, the appointment of coaching staff and the establishment of regular competitions.

According to the authorities, special importance will be given to the technical training of coaches, referees and officials, while talent hunting programs will be launched to find new talents from all over the country.

In addition, it was decided to develop hockey at the school and university level and to reactivate inter-institutional competitions, while work is underway to build a high performance center for the professional training of players.

On this occasion, the President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation hoped that the appointment of Samiullah would benefit the national team and Pakistan Hockey would once again be able to regain its lost identity.

The Federation showed its determination that the project will succeed with the cooperation of all interested institutions and people related to hockey.
