Cricket Australia has announced the future of 21 players for the 2026/27 season.
Young opener Sam Contes and fast bowler Jahe Richardson, along with Mathew Renshaw and Glenn Maxwell, are not on Cricket Australia’s new contract list.
On the other hand, back spinners Todd Murphy, Brandon Doggett and Jake Weatherland have been given contracts.
It should be noted that the Australian team will face a busy schedule in the coming months, where they also have important Test series against South Africa, New Zealand and the Indian team, including a two-Test home series against Bangladesh in August.
Regarding the announced contract players, Chief Selector George Bailey says that over the next 12 months Test cricket must be played consistently in different conditions, so most Test and multi-format players have been given priority.
He also said that the doors are not closed to those players who did not get a contract and they can do well in international matches in a year.
The 21 players announced by Cricket Australia include Xavier Bartlett, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Brendan Doggett, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green and Josh Hazlewood.
They include Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kuhneman, Marence LeBouchen, Nathan Levine, Mitchell Marsh, Todd Murphy, Michael Nesser, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Jake Weatherland, Beau Webster and Adam Zampa.
