Colombo: India beat Pakistan by 61 runs in T20 World Cup

In the 27th match of the mega cricket tournament T20 World Cup 2026, India advanced to the Super Eight stage by defeating the Pakistani team by 61 runs.

India set Pakistan a target of 176 runs in the match played at the R Prema Dasa Stadium in Colombo, but the green shirts were bowled out for 114 runs in 18 overs.

The first 3 players, including captain Salman Ali Axa, returned to the pavilion for just 13 runs, while Babar Azam returned to the pavilion for just 5 runs for a total score of 34.

Usman Khan 44, Shahin Shah Afrini 23 not out, Shadab Khan 14 and Fahim Ashraf 10 were the famous batsmen from Kesk.

Among the other players, Sahibzada Farhan, Ebrar Ahmed and Usman Tariq could not open their account, Saim Ayyub 6, Salman Ali Akha and Muhammad Nawaz 4 and 4 respectively.

For India, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumra, Varun Chakraborty, Akshar Patel took 2, 2 and Tilak Verma and Kuldeep Yadav took 1, 1 wicket.

Earlier, the Indian team had scored 175 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Ishan Kishan played a smoky 77 runs and played an important role in the team’s good cause.

Among the other players, captain Surya Kumar 32, Shivam Dubey 27 and Tilak Verma were the notable batsmen with 25 runs, while Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Akshar Patel lost wickets for zero runs, while Ranko Singh scored 11 runs.

Saim Ayyub was the most successful bowler for the green shirts, taking 3 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs, in the last over sending 2 Indian players to the pavilion on 2 consecutive balls.

On behalf of Pakistan, captain Salman Ali Akha, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Usman Tariq took 1 wicket each.

During the match, ICC president Jay Shah, PCB president Mohsin Naqvi, former India captain Rohit Sharma and Sri Lankan board officials were present at the stadium.

The two captains did not shake hands

In the match, Pakistan won and invited India to bat. Even in the big match of the mega event, India’s stubbornness remained, both the captains did not shake hands.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Akha said on the occasion of the toss that no changes have been made in the Pakistan team.
