Report: Soheyl Imran. The Bangladeshi team’s exit from the ICCT World Twenty20 has now taken a new turn as the International Cricket Council (ICC) refused to allow Bangladeshi journalists to cover the event.
According to Bangladeshi media, ICC has refused to give accreditation to journalists covering the T20 World Cup, no journalist from Bangladesh has been given permission in both Sri Lanka and India.
According to Bangladesh media reports, there are many journalists who were granted accreditation but were later denied.
A journalist from Bangladesh while talking to the media said that a journalist received an email confirming the approval on the 20th but later received an email stating that the approval was rejected.
The senior journalist of Bangladesh said in his statement that even if the team does not play, the ICC still gives accreditation to the journalists of the associate members.
The organizations of sports journalists of Bangladesh decided to announce the action soon and stated that no explanations were given by the ICC regarding the issue of non-acceptance of journalists.
On the other hand, Bangladesh Cricket Media Committee Chairman Amzad Hussain confirmed that the journalists have not received accreditation and said that 130 to 150 journalists from Bangladesh have applied for accreditation.
Amzad Hussain said that as far as I know the accreditations of all Bangladeshi journalists have been rejected.
It is worth remembering that there has been no official explanation regarding the issue of non-recognition of Bangladeshi journalists by the ICC, and because of that, the conflict is getting more and more intense.
Bangladeshi journalists’ World Cup acceptance issue
On the other hand, sources say that ICC Media has asked the representative organization of journalists for the list of journalists they want to follow.
Sources said that the accreditation process of Bangladeshi journalists will be restarted.
According to sources, Bangladeshi journalists have already applied to cover all the matches in India, Bangladeshi journalists will be given accreditation for the matches to be held in Sri Lanka.
It may be recalled that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) earlier this month requested the ICC to shift its team’s scheduled matches in India to Sri Lanka.
The demand came after IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders announced the release of fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their squad.
Negotiations between BCB and ICC continued for several days but no solution was found. Later, the ICC decided to continue the program and rejected BCB’s request and gave a 24-hour break.
Bangladesh stood their ground, after the ICC dropped Bangladesh from Group C and dropped Scotland instead and now Scotland have announced a 15-member squad for the event.
