The tension in the critical relations between Bangladesh and India increased and in this context the Bangladesh government banned the broadcasting of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in Bangladesh.

In a statement issued by the Bangladesh government, it was said that the ban on the Indian league was given for an indefinite period.

On the other hand, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has banned the sending of its national team to the ICCT World Twenty20.

Earlier, Bangladeshi quick Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the team by IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders on the instructions of the Indian Cricket Board following threats from extremists.

Mustafizur Rehman was bought by the team of Bollywood film Shahrukh Khan for more than 9 billion Indian rupees. Shah Rukh Khan was branded a traitor by Indian extremists for including Mustafizur Rahman in the team.

Bangladesh’s Media and Communications Adviser Rizwana Hasan said that Bangladesh’s sentiments were hurt in the case of Mustefizur Rahman, so we had to give a befitting reply to India.

He said that when there is political tension in countries, sports and cultural exchanges reduce the tension, but what India has done is the complete opposite.

In the briefest comment on Rizwana Hasan’s statement, Indian intellectual and politician Shashi Tharoor said, “She is absolutely right”.
