Australia have announced the initial 15-member squad for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Mitchell Marsh will lead the way while Pat Cummins, Cameron Green and Cooper Connolly, who were absent from the recent T20I series against India, return to the squad.
Australia’s starting team led by Mitchell Marsh consists of Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Cameron Green, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Ingles, Matthew Kuhneman, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Marcus Stoains.
Chief selector George Bailey says that the T20 team has enjoyed consistent success in recent times, so we have been able to pick a balanced team based on different conditions.
He said that the fitness of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David is satisfactory and we are confident that they will be available for the World Cup. This is the initial team, if necessary, changes may be made before the support period.
The T20 World Cup will be played in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 and the Australian team will play their group matches in Group B with Ireland, Oman, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
It is worth noting that Australia’s squad for the three-match T20 series against Pakistan before the World Cup is yet to be announced.
