Australia’s journey to the 2026 T20 World Cup has come to an end, with the Kangaroos eliminated from the competition at the Super Eight stage after losing to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

The 2021 world champion team’s progress to the Super Eight stage in the current event depended only on Zimbabwe’s defeat in the remaining matches.

But the match between Ireland and Zimbabwe, which was scheduled in Palikele, was canceled due to rain and both teams were awarded a point.

In this way, the Zimbabwean team reached the Super Eight stage of the World Cup with 5 points.

On the other hand, the Australian and Irish teams were excluded from the competition. Australia have just two points with just one match remaining, so even if the Kangaroos win that match, they will take a total of four points.
