Pakistan cricket team won by 6 wickets in the match played in Dambulla against Sri Lanka.
After this win, the national team sent a clear message that they are taking full advantage of the conditions ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Pakistan head coach Mike Hessen said after the match that apart from minor mistakes in the field, the overall performance of the team was convincing, the bowling laid the foundation of the match, thanks to which the Sri Lankan team was restricted to 128 runs.
Hesson said: “We attacked the wickets early, where we held onto the match, using the spinners who did a great job.” Everything went according to plan except for some irregularities on the field.
It is worth mentioning that in the first T20 match against Sri Lanka, Pakistani spinners performed well and Shadab Khan who returned to the team took 2 wickets, Abrar Ahmed took 3 wickets and troubled the Sri Lankan batting line.
Mike Hasson said the team worked on the opposition’s weaknesses, against Shedab we knew they would try to bowl, so he bowled under the bat, while Abrar bowled carefully in those conditions.
According to Hasan, Pakistan have few spin options, with Shadab Khan and Mohamed Nawaz providing balance as all fours and Saim Ayub’s bowling is another weapon.
“We have been working on our drafts for the last six months, so now we have many options to choose from,” he said.
Regarding the bat, the coach said that the batsmen were not tested much in this match, but the return of Babar Azam will make the team stronger.
