The Afghan team has also announced the names of three reserve players for the three-match T20 series against West Indies and the ICCT Twenty20 World Cup, which include AM Ghazanfar, Ijaz Ahmedzai and Zia Arhman.

Afghanistan Cricket Board Chief Executive Naseeb Khan says the team’s performance in the last World Cup was memorable. We are proud of these great past memories and hope to achieve even better results in this event held in Asian conditions.

It may be recalled that Afghanistan had performed brilliantly in the last T20 World Cup 2024 and reached the semi-finals of an ICC event for the first time, but they lost to South Africa by 9 wickets in this semi-final.

The T20 series between Afghanistan and West Indies will be played in UAE from January 19 to 22. In the T20 World Cup, Afghanistan have been placed in Group D where they will face New Zealand, South Africa, United Arab Emirates and Canada. Afghanistan will play their first match against New Zealand on February 8 in Chennai.
