Karachi:

In order to keep the face of PSL clean and clear, a plan has been prepared, in the contract of the new teams it will be clearly stated that they will not advertise the games or any prohibited items, the substitute advertisement will not be allowed in any case.

According to details, PSL franchises have been seen doing surrogate advertising in the past, where gambling companies advertise by changing their name slightly.

A few years ago, Multan Sultans captain Muhammad Rizwan raised his voice against this and hid the controversial sponsor’s logo on his shirt during the PSL match. Surrogate advertising in the league has stopped due to strict action taken by the government.

Now the PCB is taking strict steps to prevent any such attempt in future even to keep the image of the tournament clear.

Sources said contracts for new franchisees will include that they will not be allowed to advertise alcohol, tobacco, gambling or prohibited items, and will also avoid advertising that violates government policy, religious or cultural sensitivities.

60 days before the scheduled date of the first match of each tournament, 75% of the fee must be deposited by the franchisee, the remaining 25% must be paid the day before the start of the tournament.

The PCB is also trying to involve the big foreign cricketers in the action, discussions have started with the representatives in this regard, and strategies have been made for the future.

According to it, if the annual revenue from media rights in a tournament exceeds three billion Pakistani rupees, up to $500,000 of this increase will be used to buy elite international players for the draft players of the respective tournament.

PCB will receive 80% of the revenue above 500,000 dollars and 20% of the total share of all franchisees will be divided equally between them.

With interest from new teams not only from Pakistan but also from around the world, the PCB is hopeful that both the franchises will be sold for huge sums in the January 8 auction.

It has been decided to open the technical tender on December 22 and introduce the parties who have the right to participate in the tender.

It is worth remembering that the 11th edition of PSL will be held from March 26 to May 3, 2026. Along with Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan, the matches are also proposed to be held at the new venues of Faisalabad and Muzaffarabad. The final decision in this regard will be made in the coming days.
