Pakistan registered an official protest against a controversial decision during the third ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur.
According to sources, the team management took issue with the decision of the on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena before the match umpire, in which Bangladesh was allowed to take an LBW check on the second last ball of the second over.
The Pakistani team points out that Bangladesh got this assessment when the replay of the ball was shown on the stadium’s big screen.
According to the rules, a team must decide whether a review will be shown before the replay so as not to influence the decision.
Pakistan also says that the review was probably closed after a fixed time of 15 seconds when the timer was not even visible in the broadcast.
The incident occurred when Pakistan needed two wickets from 12 balls to win.
Rishad Hussain’s ball went to the side of the leg which was ruled wide by the umpire, but after the investigation it appeared that the ball hit the lower part of the bat in the eye of the bat and because of that the wide decision was changed.
Then, Shaheen Afridi scored in the last over and Bangladesh won the match by 11 runs and the series 1-2.
PCB wants at least an official explanation on the matter.
